Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) offers undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. The intake for undergraduate programmes open in April for October admission.
The intake for postgraduate programmes opens twice a year, which is October for the following year’s March admission, and April for October’s admission.

  1. For applications for undergraduate and postgraduate (coursework/mixed-mode) programmes, candidates must apply at least two (2) months before the registration date for the semester/session intake.
  2. For candidates who apply for research mode, the application is open throughout the year.
  3. The Faculty/Institute may offer a place for the candidate for the current semester or the folowing intake.

  1. Applicants are required to register via this system using the Identity Card/Passport, password and email address.
  2. Applicants are advised to check the list of programmes offered before make the application.
  3. Applicants need to click the SEND button to submit the complete application.
  4. Applicants DON'T HAVE to send any documents by post after submitting the application through this online system.
  5. Payment of processing fees:

      2. International: RM 100.00 @ USD30
    2. Centre for Shaping Advanced and Professional Education (UKMShape)

  6. Applicant should check application status via online portal (use own identity card/passport and password) from time to time

- UKM will not process any incomplete online application including those without processing fees.
- Application fees paid are strictly non-refundable.

Entry requirements for Bachelor’s Degree programmes (UKMi, Executive, PBJJ)

Local Candidate

  1. SPM qualification with credit in Malay Language or Malay Language July Paper and pass in History; and 
  2. Obtained at least Band 1 in MUET; and
  3. Obtained APEL certification for Degree (Level 6)

For candidates with STPM qualification;

 

Passed STPM with at least a CGPA of 2.00 and obtained at least:

  • Grade C (NGMP 2.00) in General Paper; and
  • Grade C (NGMP 2.00) in two (2) other subjects. 

or

For Post-Matriculation Candidates

Passed KPM/UM Science Foundation / UiTM Science Foundation / UiTM TESL Foundation / UiTM Engineering Foundation / KPT Law Foundation Matriculation with at least a CGPA of 2.00.

or

For Candidates with Diploma or equivalent;

Obtained a Diploma qualification or equivalent qualifications recognized by the Government of Malaysia and approved by the University Senate; or

Passed STPM in 2019 or before with at least a CGPA of 2.00 and obtained at least:

  • Grade C (NGMP 2.00) in General Paper and
  • Grade C (NGMP 2.00) in two (2) other subjects.

or

Passed Matriculation exams in 2019 or before with at least a CGPA of 2.00; or

Passed STPM examination in 2019 or before, with at least a Jayyid.

International Candidate

  1. Complete 12 years of Primary and High School education; and
  2. Obtain High School Certificate (e.g. Higher Secondary Certificate, Senior Secondary School Graduation Certificate, Tawjihiyah, Ijazah Sekolah Menengah Atas, High School Diploma); and
  3. Meet the minimum English requirement set by faculty; and
  4. Pass UKM interview (if required); and
  5. Meet the faculty specific requirements;

Entry requirements for Master’s programmes

  1. A person who intends to apply for a master’s programme should have the following qualifications:
    1. Bachelor's Degree by obtaining a good Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) from a University or any institution of higher learning recognized by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) and/or having accreditation recognized by a foreign Accreditation Body, or institution who has accreditation as prescribed by a programme; 
    2. Doctor of Medicine degree or Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University or any institution of higher learning or an equivalent degree from any institutions of higher learning recognised by the Senate; 
    3. any other qualification recognised by the Senate obtained through the Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning (APEL); 
    4. fulfils other requirements prescribed by the programme (if applicable); and
    5. fulfils requirements of the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA).
    6. obtained APEL certification for master (Level 7)

Entry requirements for Doctoral programmes

  1. A person who intends to apply for a doctoral programme should have the following qualifications:
    1. Master's Degree from a University or any institution of higher learning recognized by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) and/or have accreditation recognized by a foreign Accreditation Body, or an institution with accreditation as prescribed by a programme;
    2. other qualifications equivalent to a masters degree or other qualifications with experience recognised by the Senate; or
    3. a student currently pursuing full-time master’s programme under sub-regulation 6(a) at the University and recommended by the Faculty’s/Institute’s Graduate Studies Committee for status conversion to a doctoral programme with approval from the Dean/Director; or
    4. Bachelor Degree with distinction from the University or any institution of higher learning subject to what is prescribed by the Faculty/Institute and approval by Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA); and/or with accreditation recognised by a foreign Accreditation Board. 
    5. any other qualification recognised by the Senate obtained through the Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning (APEL); or
    6. fulfils other requirements prescribed by the programme (if applicable); and
    7. obtained APEL certification for doctoral (Level 8)

  1. International students shall fulfil the English language requirements by obtaining IELTS or TOEFL or MUET results or any examination that has been aligned to the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) that fulfils the minimum score or band requirements set by their respective programs and approved. by the Senate.
  2. An international student who fails to meet the English language competency requirements may be given a conditional offer as follows:
    1. students are allowed to attend an internal English Preparatory Course at the University with a time limit of a maximum of two (2) years and subject to the regulations of the Malaysian Immigration Department in force; and
    2. international students pursuing an internal English Preparatory Course must sit for the IELTS or TOEFL or MUET examinations or any CEFR-aligned examination to meet the English language competency requirements.
  3. The list of examination which has been aligned to CEFR is subject to the list approved by the Senate from time to time.
  4. The Faculty/Institute may grant exemptions to the conditions stated in sub-regulations 5(1) and 5(2) to:
    1. international students originating from countries that use English as the official language; or
    2. international students who use academic qualifications from institutions that use English as the medium of instruction and intend to pursue higher studies at the University.
